passthrough registration and authentication

This is great software! I've just installed it, and so far everything is smooth. However, my web fron-end is a CMS (CMS Made Simple cmsmadesimple.org) and I want to have users who have created an account in my CMS not have to create a duplicate account in next BBS. Is it possible to pass parameters to next BBS to autocreate an account?  Of course it would be best not to have the password in the URL.

Experienced users & developers, please let me know what's possible here.

Donald,

There is already a mechanism in nBBS to interface with external tools, so that when you use its login function it actually calls your own authentication backend. Currently there is a module for LDAP.
Note that nBBS also integrates with some tools such as Mediawiki or Coppermine and seamlessly authenticates with the same set of credentials across the board.

I haven't heard of a solution to offer full integration when nBBS is the "slave" though. I may take a look at cmsmadesimple...if it's simple enough, why not?

nBBS slave to CMSMS FEU module

Thanks for looking into this, Chris!   Yes, IMHO, CMSMS is a great content management system, and Calguy who wrote the Front End Users module and other associated CMSMS modules, such as Custom Content is very active. You can nearly always find him on the cmsms mIRC Channel.

I'll be looking forward what you see here. IMHO CMSMS could really benefit from an association with a forward looking open source BBS such as nBBS.  It could be win win for both CMSMS and nBBS.
