I downloaded Forums0.5.3.zip and extracted the files, but none of them will open, much less install.  The error message says that Windows does not recognize the file type.

Hey Aldo^^ Thanks for (trying) to using this forum :-D


At first, you must download the latest version, 0.5.3, the same that you have downloaded.
Then you extract the .zip file.
Now you load the install.php und install.data to your webserver! (requirements of it: PHP5, MySQL and an good webserver deamon: Apache2)
if this Webserver is a linux based one, please give the files, AND the folder over the files chmod 777.
This is important, to unpack the files from the installer.

NOW you go into you browser, and type in as adress: www.your-server-here.xyz/install.php or even www.your-server-here.xyz/nbbs/install.php thats your choice.

Now you come to an friendly( heh.....^^'') simply Installer. it will try to unpacxk the install.data, if this goes, wothout any error(s), click on the Link "Start Install wizard" or some other name, i dont know it anymore.

If the installer exit with errors, do now this:

rename the install.data ito install.zip, and unpaxk all files. load all files now to your webserver, but now without the install.data, and install.php^^

if done, run the same url, at the top, but now run new_install.php or newinstall.php here i has forgot the name, too :-/ but it was soething with new and install xD

now an wizard comes, that help you to config the board for mysql, and super user.

Do this, after that you have a new nbbs :D
