Version 0.4.1
Four months! I realize it's been four months since our latest public release.
Thus, here it is: Release 0.4.1 - click on 'Comments' to read a list of what is new.
It entails a remodeled Admin CP, more registration options, a skins editor with syntax highligthing, trackbacks, multi groups, integration with various 3-rd party tools and many, many more features.

Note: Effective immediately, when a release's minor number is an odd number, it means that this is a release that requires testings.
Releases with an even number are stability releases.

Note: I believe that we now have decided on our packaging policy. Therefore, there are now several packages: one for the core software and many for various add-ons.

Download it all here.

Also, our search for a new, more professional logo is still ongoing. Please help!

Cheers,
-C.

All your PHP scripts will run slowly and typically you can forget about running anything with many users.<br/>

Alright, thanks. I contacted my host:

I contacted Chris, which own's clicdev, aswell as readysethost. I was asking him how it would effect my site and he basically said:

"All your PHP scripts will run slowly and typically you can forget about running anything with many users."

Now to me.. that just sound's bad. I thought it worked just fine before, and I didn't have any problems as php running as php.

I have a forum with close to 2,000 member's. A topsite with close to 100 member's, another forum with around 50 member's, and one more forum with about 30 member's. Not to mention I have other php script's. Most of my site run's on Php alone, and I need it to run at nice speed's. Not go slower.. >_< I have an image viewer script, a click counter, poll script, shoutbox, contact form, guestbook, etc... aswell.

Anyways, I guess I kind of went off topic haven't I chris? So I will leave it at that. Sorry.

This world is not perfect. That is what makes it beautiful.

Yeah I need my forum to run as fast as it can as well. I have about 1500+ members and lately my site has been running pretty slow.

Well, there are many ways to run PHP as a CGI script. Unfortunately, they all come with some severe drawbacks.
It seems that the most optimized way to do this is to compile CGID in Apache; the speed difference should be less noticeable.
So, is everything dandy now? Well, not really because each PHP instance that it being run takes the same amount of memory as any previous instance, rather than reusing shared memory.
Now, you need a server with GB's of memory for even a moderately successful message board.

OTOH, there are some advantages; some for the web host, some for you. The web host's level of security is now better, hence your security as a hostee is better.
Also, depending on your own configuration, you may be able to have access to your individual php.ini

Board looks cool

---

@ the php convo:

I got an email too about php running as cgi on my ReadSetHost (Kwik Hosting) account.
Scott Campbell was telling me that 0777 files should now be 0755 and a bunch of other stuff...

anyway, Chris, you said something about the scrips running slow? Would I have problems if I set up a board (I was planning on waiting until NBBS went 1.x) and it became popular, would it crash my site?
