I have found, that uploading the instal file, then downloading it in a certen way allows you to view the files inside it.

I have a similar problem. I want to install it onto my server to try it out but I have no idea what to do with a .tar.tar file
Thats my problem to: I don't now how I have to unpack it... if i upload it on my server I can't unpack it!
But this is one of the nicest forums I have seen but now I can't install it on my server

Okay I will explain well for all your questions as...well m3h...
nextBBS uses a system which compresses the information into a small file, and it also shows a index.php and instal.php so basicly only a few files to instal and create your nbbs exprince.
If your download dosnt show this when you first download it, nextbbs uses .tar, sadly this pisses me off quite a bit, but programs like winZIP allow .tar ect. if you say you want to unzip those curten types of files, by going to the option menu in winZIP.
If you have the files and a server, and you have uploaded the files, but the image of the files dont work, and you get an error, you must upload the file using FTP not cpanel.

If I try to open it with WINZIP it says:
WINZIP:
ERROR READING HEADER AFTER PROCESSING 0 ENTRIES.
I ALSO TRY IT WITH WIN ACE:
And there it's giving errors and saying things like: !HFAHlJ@**FVN*AO )
Stuff like that
Mabye you can make a zip for me.. Put it on your server and I can download it...
EDIT: Finally got the 2? files unpacked it with 7-zip

.tar
.zip
is a good idea, as somepoeple dont have access to porgrams which can decode the .tar information.
