New install - cannot login as admin
After I ran the install.php, all went fine and got this message:

Your message board is now ready: a default admin user, 'admin', was created. This user's password is xxxxxx

Thank you for helping us beta-test this software!

Security Warning: Do not forget to delete install.php & newinstall.php!

Visit your Board

But when I try to login as admin and supplied the given password, I got this:

Your user ID or password is incorrect,
I don't know who you are but I don't like you!
You must log in to access this area of the site. If you are not a registered user, click here to sign up for instant access!

I tried to remove all the contents from my website and tried to reinstall, again I got the above messages. Please help.

BTW: I installed the forums0.4.4.zip

Did you copy/paste your password from the install page?
I've noticed that when copying, some browsers will add a blank space at the end of your password.

Nope, I keyed in the password one by one, following the cases.

I've already reinstalled it two more times but tthe same result.

I just asked if anybody else experienced this thing. Anyway, thanks and I'll try to check why.

I also have this problem and have worked out how to fix it.

I've gone into the database table - 'bb_users' and changed the e-mail address from the default to mine and attempted to have my details emailed to me via the 'Fogot password' facility.  One this was done, I was able to retrieve my password and login as Admin.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that.
But it's still kind of crazy.
Hopefully in the next 0.4.5 release this has become a moot point as you get to pick your own username and password. I realize that offering to enter your own email address would be a plus as well.

I had the same problem.

Just go and edit the email address for the admin user in phpmyadmin, then use the forgotten password feature.

Chris should fix the installation thingy and make it so we set our own email address, password, and board url in it.

This world is not perfect. That is what makes it beautiful.

There are quite a few details which when instaling are failed to be added so bored instalations arn't as proper.

Editing it is a pain. I don't have phpmyadmin installed, and it's not in fantastico. I really can't be bothered to install something that I have no other use for just so I can run this software.

You're correct.
Actually, if you install 0.4.5, as mentioned earlier, you will be asked to select your own password, which makes much more sense

Yeah, but it still won't let me log in. Even though they are the correct details.

Got the same problem here. I installed the nightly version and I can't login, even after editing the password to the one I really wanted and the E-mail I wanted. (The password was much larger then I had entered, and I never received the E-mail.)

Hm, this problem still exists. I tried the SourceForge 0.4.7 version and for more than a day everything was cool. I don't know how or why, but this problem apeared and I couldn't login, neither as admin, nor as regular user. After the first time I reinstall the forum I login successfully several times, but after that I was locked out again. Reinstall it a couple times more without any luck. Result is completely the same with the nightly build.
Everything else is working fine. New users can register, but just can't login.
I have other software running fine on the same server. I use Apache 2.2.4; PHP 5.2.3 and MySQL 5.0.45.
According to this topic, the problem is year old, so please put some effort solving this issue, because it's becoming a real pain in the ass

I have privately contacted most of the people who complain of this issue but they did not get back to me.
I would like to have access to your server, so that I could debug the issue. I believe that it has to do with MySQL, BTW.
