PHP? MySQL?
Could someone define? Which do I need? Do I need both?

How do install PHP/MySQL/both?

If you plan on setting up your own server, then yes you need to install them.

HOWEVER, if you are going with hosting (server owned by someone else), then you don't need to install them yourself. You just need to make sure the host has them installed on the server.

But yes, you need both PHP and a database like MySQL.

Definitely PHP, however you can use a different type of database. MySQL is preferred, but you can also use PostgreSQL or another type of SQL database.

In my opinion, MySQL would handle best as the database.


*Most* hosts should have PHP and MySQL installed, but just make sure they do anyway
