Hack Requests

What hacks would you like to see for Next BBS?

I rather code hacks that add useful functionailty to the board that helps the administrators, (super) moderators, and users.

Let's hang on to Harmor, it's not everyday that you find people who walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Thanks for pinning this topic.
I'll put that on my list of hacks to create.

I'm also thinking of putting an option in the ACP to turn the chat on or off. If off the chatbox won't even display to the users.
I may go more indepth and make it an usergroup permission. You can select which group can use the chat and which ones can't.

I also think that these five links (below) should be removed for people using this software on their own server.
Downloads | Documentation | Screenshots | Contact the Team | RSS

I'll most likely write instructions on how to remove those links. It's not a simple template edit, I checked.

I was reading a thread and Jasper mentioned something IPB has where the administrator can write another description for each forum above the thread list. Go here and notice the words in big red letter.

That's simple enough to do You don't even need to edit the template. These two screen shots should be more than enough of an instruction

Jasper,
They shouldn't be there in the first place though.
Thanks for pointing out how to remove it.

Ha but we all know hacks get borning, and hacks should only be more advanced things, or 10second edit to do, because most hacks end up becoming features, for the lazy and for convinence.

Howie,

I can make no guarantees because it seems like an ambitious undertaking and I would need help from at least 1 other developer.
However, if you could elaborate on your idea, I would be glad to formalize that in a document and look for developers for this module on Sourceforge.

You know what would be cool?

I used IPB forever, then 2.0 came along... I tried the demo and what I liked it the you can password protect forums, but only for some membergroups. If it had that and a way to switch from SMF to this then....

I have to check. If we do not have an SMF importer yet, it's about a day's work to create one.

Now let's talk about the feature you are describing: are you saying that IF you belong to a given group AND you know a password you can access a forum?

Let's say group A was VIP, and group B was members. If I password-protect, Vip's will still have to enter it. Instead of password protecting it for everyone, go by membergroups. That would rock ^.^

OK but if I understand correctly, with such names, isn't it the group 'members' that would have to enter a password?

OK, gotcha.

Interesting suggestion, I know I would use this feature.
