Installation issues
|
Hey all,
I was browsing around on the net and came across this forum system, and I'd love to try it out; I'm currently running phpBB3 for my forum needs, and looking for something different.
I downloaded the latest release, extracted the two files required, made all the necessary directories and setup all the permissions, and was ready to go. I use my browser to hit the install.php file and all I get are errors. I did a search and found that someone else had complained about this earlier, but they were using a version of php that was untest, I don't seem to have that problem (I know they function as I am able to run other systems).
Here are the details for the system that I'm running this on, hopefully it's something simple:
Slackware Linux 10.1
Apache 2.2.8
PHP 5.2.5
MYSQL 5.0.24a
The error that I'm getting shows as follows:
extractData($filename); if($ret>0) $this->info('Wizard ready. I am now going to try and uncompress the data file. If I fail, and you see strange error messages being displayed, it is for one of two reasons: 1. Either you have not changed the access rights of the directory where I am running, allowing the web server to write new files, 2. Or this server is running PhpSuExec (ask your host!) and it does not like self-extracting scripts. If this is the case, you are going to have to install NBBS the old standard way: 2.1. On your personal computer, rename install.data to install.zip 2.2. Uncompress install.zip .....etc.....

When I mouse over the text, it looks like it wants to send me to <server>/'.$redirect.'
I've tried to load this page with Firefox3 and IE6. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
