The NextBBS Team is proud to announce the release of v0.4.4.
The main focus of this release is Stability. We encourage current users of v0.4.3 to use the automated upgrade procedure.
With several major upgrades, this release, more than ever, definitely offers the most "Web 2.0" Community Building experience available.
* Short Version:
1. Stability, Stability, Stability 2. Upgraded Rich Text Editor 3. vBulletin Converter 4. Search Performance Improved 5. Avatars Done Right
Well, it's very easy to do.
However your board is very successful so I will upgrade it myself, so that it doesn't end up down if something goes awry.
I guess I could upgrade next week-end.
How would I install it on animeworld.militate.com? Just upload the files and run install.data? Would it override the old files?
I really thought more people liked anime, I advertise it like all the time on other sites and ask friends to ask friends, etc. >_> Chris, do you have any time of affiliate or "hot links" systems on Militate to help me get more traffic?
Jasper, when we launch Zoints.com officially, you should register and star networking with other boards owners. That's the best affiliate system I can think of.
But, yes, you can just run install.php and select 'Upgrade'.
Note: your current skin #1 will be clobbered so you may want to make backups.
On a different note, I may not upgrade anyone this week-end: I found an annoying bug when using the quick reply feature and you have selected to use the WYSIWYG/default editor in your profile.
Cool about Zoints.com, for whatever reason didn't know about it :p
I just made a profile, lol @ the security question "which is not a live creature". So I guess the "pet rock" from the '70's doesn't count :D
Sucks about the bug.
Good thing I kept a copy of the edited header and footer on my computer. I can quickly re-add some of the custom coding to the new header and footer
Check out my zoints profile jasper.zoints.com/ btw is there any way to change the this image with one from my photo album?
I selected to "upgrade install" and now I have this:
Enter the name of an existing database as well as the name and password
of a user who has create privileges on this database.
The prefix will be used to prefix all your table's name.
I dunno what the database info is. I'm gonna cancel for right now and maybe you can tell me later the info, or do it for me?
Edit: aaahhh, even though I cancelled, it messed up the header by reverting it (how since I cancelled?) and for whatever reason it won't let me re-upload the backup of header.tpl, I keep getting an error. (Maybe because I cancelled the install?) V_V
Jasper, I suspect that you have a conflict between the access rights for Apache and your user. That's happening increasingly with web hosts using phpSUEXEC.
Just use your file manager to make the file writable by 'others'
The database info is the one you entered when you first setup your board!
But... you set it up for me.... I got it all ready to use. You gave me a temp password for the Admin CP of the board, but that's it.
This would be my first time going thru the installation process.
On FTP (no other form of "file manager" access) the files are set at 755. Even if I try to change them to 775 or 777, they revert back to 755
As for the premissions on the FTP, here are the default ones (it won't let me change premissions)
Directory the .tpl files are in:
header.tpl (footer.tpl is the same):
Everytime I try to override the file, it gives me an error message.

See the thing is, I had it set up so I could do all future edits directly from the "Menu Bar" of the Admin CP, since the template system in the ACP doesn't work well. So now I have two header images, and since I can't edit header.tpl I can't put back the CSS file I had a @import on, so the <ul> list in the Menu Bar is messed up. And like an idiot, I didn't keep a backup of what was originally in the Menu Bar, and unlike everything else, the Menu Bar doesn't revert.
I was going to change the nav list anyway since I got tired of the <ul> list I made, but now I can't even do that. Well I could, but not the way I wanted since I can't edit the header file.
I'm going to view the page source from this site and try to get a semi-normal nav list, for the time bein.
