there is an error message erupting upon trying to access my freshly installed forum, with the error message instead of BPOD activated as suggested in the documentation.

It starts with:
[nextBBS]
: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/web245/html/rat/adodb/adodb.inc.php (886)
at adodbdriver::adodbdriver() (/var/www/web245/html/rat/dbdriver.php:443)
at adodbdriver()() (/var/www/web245/html/rat/dbdriver.php:25)
at factoryGetDriver("adodb" (/var/www/web245/html/rat/index.php:156)

and in the middle there is a line marked red saying:
886            $rs =& new ADORecordSet_empty();

I searched this forum and tried to google the issue, yet unsuccessful, so I would foam over with joy and gratitude if someone could give me a hint how to resolve it.
